We’ve finally dug out from Tuesday’s storm, 12″ officially fell on property. With the previous warm weather and sunshine, we were starting to become exposed. As you can see from the picture below of #3, there was a lot of snow melt occurring and turf was becoming open to the elements. The timing of this snow is a good insurance policy that should keep the turf insulated until the Spring melt. As long as it melts properly and we avoid drastic freeze\/re-freeze cycles\u00a0and from what I could see before this snowfall event,\u00a0this should set us up for great turf conditions to start the 2016 golf season.<\/p>\n

Mark Ries\u00a0finished grooming the ski trails late yesterday afternoon. If\/when you head out there, you’ll notice that the routing of the trail on the front and back 9s are slightly altered. We received 12″ of snow Tuesday but there are several areas on property with little to no snow at all. The combination of a snowfall with little moisture content coupled with 25 mph winds created several bare areas as well as areas that are 4 feet deep. Mark had to route the trail to avoid both extremes.<\/p>\n

The trails are a little soft with the fluffy snow but will set up nicely with the upcoming weather. As a reminder, please stay on the trail as to prevent damage on our short grass areas. I took the picture below\u00a0before Tuesday’s snowfall. It’s a perfect example of how compacting the snow on a tee box with your skis or snowshoes can easily create ice, which could lead to turf loss.<\/p>\n
